Fellow Substack writer Nate Solon got an interesting idea. That is to learn every Short & Sweet course on Chessable. I liked the idea and we quickly picked the course for the first week.
I have already started learning to play the Caro-Kann, which is quite fun. The plan is that we will get a basic idea of the theory, plans, and move-orders in as many different openings as possible. This should in turn make the participants in the Tour better chess players.
If you want to join this is the schedule for the following weeks:
This week (9.8-15.8): Short & Sweet: The Caro-Kann by GM Erwin L'Ami
Week 2 (16.8-22.8): Short & Sweet: Wesley So's 1. e4
Week 3 (23.8-29.8): Short & Sweet: Queen's Gambit Accepted by IM Sopiko Guramishvili
Week 4 (30.8-5.9): Short & Sweet: Gawain's King's Indian by GM Gawain Jones
Week 5 (6.9-12.9): Short & Sweet: 1. b3 by GM Adhiban Baskaran
Week 6 (13.9-19.9): Short & Sweet: Peter Svidler's Grünfeld by GM Peter Svidler
If you want to join you can just jump on Twitter and use the hashtag #TourdeShortandSweet and tweet about your progress. If all goes well we will also do some thematic training tournaments. After the first 6 weeks, we will continue with new openings if all goes well. Leave a comment if you have any questions :)
Best,
Martin
