Setting goals 🧗
Hi,
I hope you are making progress with your chess?
I had my first game in the Lichess4545 league for my team 10 Terrible Time-managers on board 2. It was a great opportunity to slow down and focus on chess.
During the week I also greatly enjoyed another episode from the Huberman podcast. This episode was about setting goals. It was really interesting to dive into the the science behind goal setting.
Here are some of my takeaways from the episode:
Set moderate goals
Do not set too many goals
Set concrete steps to reach your goal
Foreshadow/visualize failure
Make milestones on the way to the goals
Assess and update your progress towards your milestones
85 % success rate is key to learning (https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-019-12552-4)
Definitely pointers I want to return to and implement in regards to my goal of reaching a 2000 FIDE rating.
Finally, I plan to publish the two first volumes of The Tactics Ladder next week, so stay tuned!
Have a nice weekend!
