I’m back home from a cold and rainy camping trip to Sweden. One morning when it was rainy and 9 degrees Celsius (48 F) we decided to go home. Also, a rat or mouse had eaten our chocolate during the night.
After returning home I have had some time to think about how I want to return to chess training and what goal to aim at when everyday life starts again.
I have puzzled my mind with the question about what time control I should focus on. OTB chess is still not possible for me at the moment and the long online games I find hard to schedule and take seriously enough. Previous when I have played rapid it has been 10+0, which is a fun format, but the lack of an increment often gives flagging a chance to be the game decider instead of good chess play.
Therefore I have reasoned with myself that 15+10 will be my new time control, which should make it possible to play and think during the games. Ultimately making them worth spending some time on afterward.
To force myself to take the games seriously I want to make it into a series and share the games with the you.
I did write one post on a 15+10 game back in February, but I think the video format is a bit too time consuming for me to make after each game, so I have rethought the concept.
My plan is to share each game with key position(s), thoughts/analysis, and stats. In regard to openings, I want to play the same openings and stick to them. With White, I want to play the Catalan (Keep it Simple inspired), and with Black, I want to learn something new. I have played the French for a long time, and I think it is time to learn the Sicilian more specifically the Kalashnikov.
Against d4, which is my biggest weakness, I want to learn the KID. Hopefully, a more aggressive repertoire will help me long term and it will hopefully also be interesting for you to read about.
I will send out posts after each game. I plan to send all to paid subscribers and some to free subscribers. If you want upgrade to paid you will also gain access to 6 of my books. If you want to join the journey to 2100 hit the button and get 30% off.
Wish me luck 🍀
